The importance of fathers to mental health

A talk by Consultant Psychotherapist Andrew Briggs, followed by questions from the audience.
This lecture will consider the impact on child development and mental health when fathers are absent from their families. Positive and negative outcomes for the child will be the main focus of the talk. The role of the mother on child development, both positive and negative, will be discussed. Reasons for father absence will be explored.
This talk is part of the series of talks on Masculinities and Health organised in conjunction with UCL’s Centre for Global Health and Global Action on Men’s Health.
