How do we identify the wishes and feelings of children in cases of parental alienation?
May 17, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pmFree
Family courts are obliged to identify the wishes and feelings of children, but this can be difficult in cases where the child has been coached in what to say by one of the parents. This lecture examines the psychological, clinical and forensic principles and precautions needed to ensure best practice in cases where children may have been subjected to manipulation. Research expressing the experiences and court advice of psycho-medical practitioners is explored, with an emphasis on how these experts viewed the treatment of vulnerable and alienated children within the court system. Best practice is compared to what generally happens in actual practice.
The speaker is Stuart Hontree, author of a new book on parental alienation http://www.paacl.com/
